NYC Bagels - how to reheat after shipment
Hi there,
For Christmas, I'm planning on having a bunch of pastrami and bagels shipped from Katz's Deli in NYC to California. My husband is from NYC and misses that place a lot so I wanted to get him a nice surprise. Though the pastrami will last ~1 week in the fridge, I imagine bagels won't. Here are my options and my current dilemma:
- Get it shipped and receive on 12/20 - Free Shipping. Dilemma - will bagels last in the fridge? Can I reheat them so they taste fresh on Christmas (5 days later on 12/25)?
- Get it shipped and receive on 12/24 - $60 Shipping. It's really expensive for shipping. If this is the best way, I'll do it. I also run into the risk of possible delivery delays.
- Omit bagels altogether. Dilemma - if the consensus is the bagels don't taste good even after reheating, this may be the best way to go.
What are your thoughts? And if you pick 1 or 2, what is the best way to reheat a bagel?
