Do you think accounting will remain as a viable pathway to PR?

Just a few years back accounting was one of the best ways to get Aus PR. Now it seems to be getting harder and harder every year, on top of the field already being extremely competitive. It got to the point I fear it might get removed from the skilled occupations list before I graduate and get enough work experience, finish or even start my CPA and get employed at an accounting firm to qualify for PR.

I genuinely enjoy accounting and want to pursue it as a career instead of paying for another uni course that is much more sought after but can't see myself staying in long term - eg. nursing.

I have done absolutely everything I could to maximise my chances, Skill Select points, references etc., yet I still have this feeling of uncertainty and that I could be doing more. Recently some professions got IIRC 2 or 3 more years for their post-grad visas, accounting was not on that list.

It sucks seeing other people who got here just a few years back having it so much easier. I know a couple who come from the same country as me that didn't mind fake-editing tons of documents, contract cheating through their whole university degree and lying a lot to get their PR. I got laughed at for not doing the same. Why is it like this?
