Why is Clay on the show?

Clay is constantly saying he’s not ready for marriage and his ultimate decision at the altar, he elaborates further on it. Why come on the show? What producer chose him to come on a show specifically designed to get married at the end? What in the tarnation is going on?

Did Clay truly not know what a marriage is? He didn’t know about walking down the aisle, nor did he know about the groom getting a ring. Maybe he thought Love is Blind was just a dating show and was like 😳 when AD enlightened him as to what a marriage is.
