mono audio is off but still can't tell what direction the sound is coming from.

I checked the audio directionality was on with some youtube test videos and when I play the game r/L sounds are combined again. When I checked it again after the game with the same video, 3d sound was not working any more. I'm using airpod and mono audio setting is off. Anyone has ever had the same problem? How did you fix it? BTW the overall audio quality is also very noisy too.
