[FARASUTE 2214] This watch made me stop enjoying conversation starters
So, I love when someone notices my watch, it generally happens so rarely, and of course Im obsessed with this hobby. I even review watches purely because I enjoy sharing my experience. The first few times someone asked about my watch, in real life, it felt amazing. I would light up, dive into the story behind it and it would lead up to another interesting conversation, most often still hobby related.
But am I the only one who started to dread retelling the same script? Like, my watch has a cool backstory, and I should enjoy telling it. But after the 20th "Thats a cool watch, what is it?", I catch myself mumbling, "Oh, its a mechanically driven watch, no batteries required" just to speed things along. It’s like my brain is dreading with this copy-paste mode.
So, two things:
1. When does it become too ropetitive? Do you have a go-to short answer, or do you still launch into the full story every time?
2. Which watch in your collection gets the most attention?
3. When is it too much?
Anyone else feel this weird mix of "PLEASE ask me about my watch" and "PLEASE don’t ask me about my watch"?
